29 years in architectural technology, from technical packages to design leadership, delivery planning, Revit implementation and the development of teams and design departments.

  1. May 2026 – Present

    Torsion Care

    Senior Architectural Technologist

    Member of the management team, responsible for developing the in-house design department and aligning architectural delivery with the contractor’s requirements.

    • Developed a delivery planner linking the drawing register to the contractor’s Information Release Schedule (IRS), preserving drawing references and generating an aligned Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP).
    • Integrated Gantt programming, drawing-level time allowances and resource availability. Configured, presented and issued the planner to the contractor at the start of Stage 4.
    • Diagnosed and resolved recurring Revit crashes and performance problems through systematic testing of software updates, graphics drivers, server issues and model health.
    • Proposed cloud model hosting, secured directors’ agreement and implemented Forma Design Collaboration (formerly BIM Collaborate Pro) across the team.
    • Developing contractor relationships and negotiating design deliverables, alongside drawing standards, Revit templates, ISO 19650 aligned processes, quality checks and staff mentoring.
    • Care home projects typically valued at £12m and up to 70 beds.
  2. March 2025 – May 2026

    Box Architects

    Senior Architectural Technologist

    Senior team member with line management and staff review responsibilities, combining project leadership with technical process improvement.

    • Led a complex MOJ refurbishment, working to an externally prepared BIM execution plan and coordinating COBie data requirements. Chaired design team meetings and tracked actions.
    • Reported practice improvement recommendations to senior leadership and improved the ISO 9001 drawing review process.
    • Line managed junior staff, conducting performance development reviews and quarterly reviews of goals, targets and progress.
    • Improved Revit workflows and drawing coordination for the McCarthy & Stone team within the practice’s BS EN ISO 19650 aligned processes.
    • Worked with NBS Chorus and Uniclass-classified specifications.
  3. May 2016 – March 2025

    Cunniff Design

    Senior Architectural Technologist / BIM Lead

    With the practice from inception, established Revit-based technical delivery on live projects. Member of the senior team, leading large student accommodation projects and acting as a senior technical point of reference.

    • Implemented and maintained Revit standards, with consultant model coordination and clash detection.
    • Technical leadership of major purpose-built student accommodation projects.
    • Staff training, junior mentoring and team management.
    • Devised a method for coordinating complex firestopping solutions with M&E on a high-risk building.
    • Linked and tagged NBS Chorus and Uniclass-classified specification references within Revit to coordinate model information and specifications.
  4. February 2015 – May 2016

    Darnton B3

    Architectural Technologist

    Team role focused on Revit-based technical delivery, coordination and production of construction information.

    • Projects include Airedale Air Conditioning’s manufacturing, office and R&D facility, the Primark national store fit-out programme and McCarthy & Stone retirement apartments.
  5. March 2014 – February 2015

    Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson

    Architectural Technologist

    Responsible for interior work packages on Bradford Broadway, a £260m retail development for Westfield.

    • Produced Revit information for ceilings and bulkheads, coordinating with the M&E plenum design.

    Architectural technology and technical delivery

    A foundation in retail, residential and commercial work, alongside schools and offices.

    • WM Morrison: M local fit-out programme. Design Time: The Range fit-out programme.
    • DLG Architects: retail projects including Willow Place, Corby. Darnton Elgee: Tesco Refresh programme.
    • John Hill Associates: schools and offices. Carey Jones Architects: large-scale residential and commercial projects.

This timeline records employment experience. Projects undertaken with these employers are distinct from work delivered through Simon’s current businesses.

Alongside employed roles / 2002–Present

Independent
residential work.

Working directly with homeowners on extensions, new-build homes and projects in conservation areas and the Green Belt, interpreting requirements and explaining design options.

  • Planning and Building Regulations applications, detailed plans and sections, and supporting specifications.
  • Coordination of architectural information with the structural engineer.
  • Practical support during construction, including resolving level discrepancies and adapting proposals to unexpected site conditions.
