Expertise / Four connected capabilities

Technical ownership. Clearer delivery.

I help organisations manage difficult technical work and improve how their teams deliver it. The common thread is practical support, clear responsibility and information people can use.

Design & Technical Leadership

When you might need support

A difficult project needs technical ownership. Workload has increased, a senior colleague has left, or the team needs more experienced management capacity.

How I help

I can join as a Design Lead, Technical Lead, Project Lead or senior technical resource, taking responsibility for the agreed technical scope and helping the team make decisions and keep information moving.

Typical activities and outputs

  • Technical ownership and multidisciplinary consultant coordination.
  • Chairing technical and design meetings, tracking actions and technical decisions.
  • Planning drawing and information packages, with clear responsibilities, release schedules and checking.
  • Mentoring technical staff and supporting construction-stage problem solving.
  • Project recovery support and additional senior capacity.

Relevant experience

At Cunniff Design, my senior role included technical leadership of major PBSA schemes. At Box Architects, I led a complex MOJ refurbishment and chaired design team meetings.

Revit & BIM Implementation

When you might need support

Revit standards have grown inconsistently. Teams work differently, templates need attention and the quality of project information varies.

How I help

I help practices improve how they actually deliver projects using Revit: setting up usable standards and workflows, then supporting the people who need to apply them.

Revit standards, templates and QA processes should ultimately improve the information being delivered. The aim is not standardisation for its own sake, but clearer, more consistent and better coordinated outputs that are easier for project teams and contractors to use.

Typical activities and outputs

  • Revit implementation, office templates and project setup.
  • Drawing and model standards, families and content.
  • Coordination workflows and model QA.
  • Practical staff training, mentoring and day-to-day support.
  • BIM processes aligned with ISO 19650, cloud collaboration and model health reviews.

Relevant experience

I established Revit delivery at Cunniff Design, improved workflows at Box Architects, and implemented Forma Design Collaboration across the Torsion Care team after resolving recurring Revit performance problems.

Delivery Planning & Practice Improvement

When you might need support

Checking has become cumbersome, information is duplicated and technical staff spend too much time on low-value administration. Responsibility is not always clear.

How I help

I work with practices to identify where technical processes get in the way of delivery, then develop practical improvements that the team can use consistently.

Typical activities and outputs

  • Reviewing QA, checking and drawing coordination processes.
  • Improving technical standards and ISO 9001 related workflows.
  • Reducing unnecessary administration and duplicate information.
  • Aligning drawing registers with contractor release schedules, TIDPs, drawing-level time allowances and resource availability.

Relevant experience

At Torsion Care, I developed and issued a planner linking the drawing register to the contractor’s IRS, with an aligned TIDP, Gantt programming and resource views. At Box Architects, I improved the ISO 9001 drawing review process.

Complex Technical Coordination

When you might need support

Builders’ work, M&E services, penetrations and specialist information do not line up. Unresolved interfaces risk abortive work and difficult decisions on site.

How I help

I coordinate the information around complex technical interfaces: bringing together services, openings, drawings and manufacturer information so that issues can be identified and resolved by the responsible parties.

Typical activities and outputs

  • Builders’ work, penetration and services information coordination.
  • Coordinating drawing and model information across disciplines.
  • Bringing relevant manufacturer and fire-stopping information into the coordination process.
  • Tracking unresolved interfaces and the information needed from the responsible designers and specialists.

Relevant experience

At Cunniff Design, my experience included major PBSA and high-rise projects and developing a method for coordinating complex fire-stopping and M&E issues. I also coordinated NBS Chorus and Uniclass-classified specification references within Revit.

This is technical information and coordination support. I do not offer fire engineering or fire-stopping design. Specialist commercial fire-related services may ultimately be appointed through Sealplan.
